Purpose of Relocation
The purpose for which people move to Australia determines the type of visa required. Applying for a permanent visa is not easy, often not necessary and can sometimes have unintended consequences particularly in relation to taxation matters.
It is therefore very important to first identify the purpose of relocating e.g:
- as a result of accepting an employment offer
- marriage to an Australian
- to study
- teach
- undertake research
- retire
- visit family/friends
- attend conference
- or permanent migration.
We often find that people approach us with a pre-conceived notion of the particular visa for which they want to apply - often based on advice from well-meaning friends who have been successful in that visa category in the past.
It is very important to understand that Immigration Law changes frequently so that a particular visa category may disappear altogether or be radically changed. In addition, while the circumstances of individuals may appear to be exactly the same, our examination often reveals major differences.
